Yesterday, Rob Papen announced Blade 2.0, a big update to what is already a very good synth. Blade 2.0 introduces a new three-band multi-fx with the dopest FX engines available and also a new set of included Rob Papen FX for the first time ever. The price, at US $499, also doesn't seem to deviate from Blade 1.6 and is in alignment with other Papen synths. Read on to see what else is new in Blade 2.0.
If I ever get Blade 2.0 to sound as good as Blade 1.6, I am sure that Papen will be a force to be reckoned with in the production world. This is not to discard either Blade 1.6, which for me is second only to my beloved AmiSynth as the best additive sound I have ever used. If I could combine the skills and sound of Blade 1.6 with the kind of concepts in Blade 2.
So I have been playing around with Blade 2.0, and I think Blade has a different kind of sound. It is a bit more organic, and as a result, it has a different character to Blade 1.6. As the title of the firmware states, it's a more organic, more simple and less 'ballerina' type sound, which I think is an evolution from Blade 1.6.
Cool new features include a new 'ratcheting' mode, plus a new XY pad with three rows of up to 16 controls each (enough for maximum creativity). The additional rows will make it easier to place the FX precisely and add more FX or controls to the existing FX or controls if you wish. In addition, I have finally included an easy mode for Blade, and now offers a whole new way to touch it. It is also possible to register Blade and activate the easy mode with a key press. Now you will not have to type in pesky and long registration code numbers when needed. You will be able to navigate Blade easily and the 'easy mode' saves you valuable time in case you are in the mood for a real beginner's guide. I hope you all enjoy playing about with Blade 2.0 and can't wait to see what you make with it.
If you're a fan of Blade then you'll get a lot of use from Blade 2. And if you're not, I think you'll find Blade 2 an easy step into the world of additive synthesis! Just click 'Buy Now' below to download Blade 2 from VST format for your Windows or Mac. Enjoy! 7211a4ac4a
